In accordance with the new law, all employers are required to update their state mandated postings to include this new poster effective January 1, 2015. Please note that the January 1st effective date only applies to when you must display the required paid sick leave poster and should not be confused with the effective date of the new sick leave law itself (which is July 1, 2015).

In addition, the labor commissioner updated the employee wage notice (Labor Code Section 2810.5). Employers have been required to provide this notice to non-exempt employees since 2012. The wage notice has been updated for 2015 to contain information about the rights of the employee to accrue and use paid sick leave, including employee protections under the new law.

The new wage notice includes four check boxes which the employer must check one, indicating the level of paid sick leave provided to employees, or that the employer is exempt pursuant to Labor Code Section 245.5(a).

It is highly recommended that you download the new wage notice and begin using this new notice, effective January 1, 2015.
